Postie Bike Challenge
Tim
May 17 2011

I wish to give you a rundown on what is happening in the lead-up to what is considered almost impossible – riding CT110 postie bikes up the Canning Stock Route and then on to Darwin.

On Sunday 24 July 2011 the Nadiya’s Challenge team will be having a final fundraiser and hoo-roo to the crew at the Alma Sports Club between 3-7pm.

Alma Sports Club 1 Wilks Street Caulfield North  T: 95272625

This will include the bands The Noisy Johnnies plus guest appearance from Kelly Digeldei (Naughty Girl) in the acclaimed ABC series; "Summer Heights High” plus the up-and-coming band The Daniel Jacobs, raffles, games and some barefoot bowling.  Entry will be $20 per person with drinks and finger food available from the bar. (At very reasonable prices)

The main event begins on Friday 12 August, after nearly two years of planning and preparation, where the crew will be loading their bikes onto a trailer and driving across the Nullarbor with our support crew to get to the starting point in Wiluna, Western Australia.  The riders and support crew will leave Wiluna on Monday 15 August and start our expedition up the Canning Stock Route.

We hope to arrive in Halls Creek on Sunday 28 August at the latest.  This is where our Canning Stock Route support crew will be returning to Melbourne and a new support crew will join us for the remainder of our journey to Darwin.  Our arrival into Darwin can be no later than midday on Saturday 3 September as we have an auction night arranged at the Wisdom Bar in Mitchell Street, Darwin.  A professional auctioneer will be auctioning the postie bikes, riders’ gear and the 4x4 support trailer.

Any other items kindly donated will also be auctioned at this time to raise money and awareness for this cause.

The team will be providing regular updates from the Canning Stock Route via blog to the website and are currently working on a satellite link so we can upload footage from the Canning Stock Route to the website.  We will also be in daily contact with TerritoryFM station 104.1.

Regular media releases will be dispatched to many media organisations during the expedition drawing significant media and website attention.

Should you receive any media enquiries, please direct these to media@nadiyaschallenge.org.

Again; thanks for your support and keep spreading the word.
